22 May- the second day of the VII Astana Economic Forum. Main theme: “Risk management in an era of changes in the format of G-Global”

At 9.30 a.m., the IX International Conference “TransEurasia 2014” organized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the participation of  the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov will be held at the Palace of Independence. It is planned to undertake a review and analysis of geopolitical trends of  Eurasian region, in particular, the prospects for the development of national transport networks and their harmonious integration into the international transport system, developing effective transcontinental corridors and discuss other issues as well.

astana forum 2014 logoAt 9.30 a.m.  AEF World Economic Forum will organize a roundtable on ” South Caucasus and Central Asia: economic opportunities in a changing regional and global landscape”. Key issues: new opportunities and access to new markets for the region from the changing global economy, the role of regional cooperation in achieving diversification and integration into the world economy, the impact of new multilateral and regional trade framework and others. Participants: Rong Jianying – Secretary General of the China Federation of Industrial Economics; Jonathan Dunn – Deputy Head of the Central Asian countries of the International Monetary Fund; Gorban Safe – Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Kazakhstan; Olivier Dekamps – Managing Director, Turkey, Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD); Umirzak Shukeyev – Chairman of the Board, a member of the Board of Directors of JSC “Samruk- Kazyna”; Gumar Rakhimzhanov – Chairman of the Board  JSC “KazAgroFinance “.

At 9.30 a.m. in the framework of  the VII AEF Kazakhstan Agency for Civil Service Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the UN Development Programme in the Republic of Kazakhstan a global conference on “Civil service personnel management: current issues and prospects” will start.  The conference will be attended by the Director of the Federal Institute of Advanced Training of managers (FEI) at the Office of Personnel Management of the United States ( 1973-1976 , 1980-1981 ) Chester Newland, chief expert on management and organizational development, former  director of the Economic Development Institute of the  Chamber of Commerce, Austria,  Stephen Hlavacek, UN Resident Coordinator, Resident representative of the UNDP in Kazakhstan Stephen Tull, associate Dean, School of public Policy and Management of Tsinghua University Wu Yongping and others.

At 9.30 a.m., at the Palace of Independence, the International Women’s Forum “G-Global: the role of women in the new economy” will be held. Forum consists of two sessions Leadership of women in political and economic life”and “Role of Women in Central Asia and Afghanistan in the development of the new economy”. Within the framework of event it is planned to discuss the topics of economic integration of women entrepreneurs in Central Asia and Afghanistan, improvement of legislative base, which creates favorable conditions for the development of small and medium-sized businesses, including women’s entrepreneurship. The purpose of the International Women’s Forum “G-Global: the role of women in the new economy” – social empowerment of women, is attracting investment and innovation, in addition, the systematization of preparatory work to attract women entrepreneurs to participate in an international exhibition ” Expo -2017 ” which will be held in Astana .

Other events which are planned within the framework of the VII AEF and II WAC: a roundtable on “Corporate governance and value-added” (organizer: JSC “National Welfare Fund “Samruk -Kazyna”), a panel session on “UNCTAD: Transformation for prosperity – 50 years of continuity and change” (organizers: United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD ) and the “Eurasian Economic Club of Scientists” Association ), panel session on “Migration and development in the Customs Union” (organizers: International Organization for Migration and Development and “Eurasian Economic club of Scientists” Association), panel session on “Barriers at international trade: assistance to small and medium-sized businesses” (organizer: International Trade Centre). The main outcome of the Forum and the II World Anti-Crisis Conference (WAC) will be the adoption of the World Anti-Crisis Plan for UN member states, in addition, the signing of agreements and contracts are also planned.
