Romanian MEP Ramona Mănescu (PNL, EPP) will participate in the ”Transatlantic relations in the era of President Trump” conference organised by Wilfried Martens Centre, Brussels, March 23.
”The victory of Donald Trump has left European and world leaders searching for answers. The need for the EU to maintain a strong, symbiotic transatlantic partnership is paramount for issues like transatlantic trade, security and foreign policy. The notion that the EU may not be able to rely on the cooperation of the US administration, however, is quickly looking like a new reality. Trump’s appointment of several controversial figures to his cabinet highlights this concern.
What can be expected from the new administration in terms of maintaining a tough position on Putin? Can the EU continue to rely on the US’s security presence in Eastern Europe and, if not, how would it fill this void? How should EU officials engage their new US counterparts to ensure the best chances for achieving cohesive strategies across various policy sectors?”, the organisers announced.
