”Nuclear weapons remain a threat and are used as tools of intimidation and blackmail”, MEP Ramona Mănescu stated, during a debate in the European Parliament for a resolution on nuclear safety and non-proliferation.
Russia has declassified the first ever image of its new thermonuclear-armed intercontinental ballistic missile, the RS-28 Sarmat, also known as SATAN 2, ”which confirms this reality and that old habits die hard”, the MEP stated, adding that ”it is not a coincidence that the power of destruction of the weapon was expressed as can destroy an area equivalent to Texas or France”.
”Nuclear weapons don’t bring balance and stability, but the opposite.
I strongly believe that diplomatic weapons are more powerful and more efficient than nuclear ones, and that their effect can lead to the blossoming of an entire nations, not turning them into ruins.
I believe that the European Union and its Member states are that ones that must lead these diplomatic efforts and I know that in this regard, the expectations of the 500 million citizens that we represent, are very high”, the MEP concluded.
