MEP Vasile Blaga (PNL, EPP) argues that the European Union must have a unified response to the energy crisis it is facing, but also one that tackles the problem head on.
“It is not enough for each state to adopt protectionist measures towards its own citizens. This approach can only solve the problem of rising prices in the short term. What is essential is a strategy that identifies new sources of supply and additional storage capacity”, Vasile Blaga told CaleaEuropeană.ro.
The MEP added that it is also vital to include gas and nuclear energy on the list of green energies as transitional solutions for achieving climate neutrality in the European Union.
“Countries like Romania cannot tackle the transition to a green future like Denmark or Sweden. Romania needs more time to achieve climate neutrality, and this buffer period cannot be achieved without taking into account domestic reserves of natural gas and nuclear energy”, concluded MEP Vasile Blaga.
